Emmanuelle Charpentier receives Louis-Jeantet Prize 2015
The Louis-Jeantet Foundation announced in its press release on Tuesday, 20th of January 2015, that Emmanuelle Charpentier and Rudolf Zechner, University of Graz, Austria are the two recipients of the LOUIS-JEANTET PRIZE FOR MEDICINE 2015. Emmanuelle is awarded the prize "for her contribution in harnessing an ancient mechanism of bacterial immunity into a powerful technology for editing genomes", the foundation writes in the information.
The Louis-Jeantet Prize is one of Europe's most prestigious prizes in medicine and fosters excellence in research. Each of the two awardees will receive CHF 700.000 (6.3 Mio SEK) at the ceremony in Geneve on 22 April 2015.
