Welcome to the 5th Infection Biology Meeting!

Venue: Old Townhall "Rådhuset" and Rex Umeå
Organizers: The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine, Sweden, MIMS

The main goal of this meeting is to gather experimental researchers,
physicians and epidemiologists working in the fields of molecular
and clinical microbiology as well as host-pathogen interaction.

We will have poster presentations and selected oral presentations
from all areas of bacterial, fungal, parasitic and viral infections. Oral
presentations from PhD students and Post docs are most welcome.
Please do not miss this great opportunity to attend an interesting
scientific program and to meet colleagues from Swedish Institutions
who are interested in infection biology! The number of delegates
will be limited to 110 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration is closed now.

The national infection biology meetings (NIBM) from 2005 - 2011

The first meeting of its kind was a closing event of a large research network fund by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. The meeting was held in 2005 in Linköping and was meant to gather all research partners of the network together to initiate further cooperation.
At that time it was agreed to continue these meetings annually on a nation-wide level. To organize these meetings funding was received from the Swedish Research Council.

The second meeting was held in 2006 in Umeå. The third meeting took place 2007 in Uppsala and the 4th 2008 in Malmö. The meetings were in general very well accepted and attracted each time more than 100 researchers working in the field of infection biology.

In 2009 the Symposium on Bacterial Cell Biology and Pathogenesis was organized in Umeå with international guests and key note lecturers and thus substituted the traditional NIB meeting in this year. From then on the meeting was planed to be held biannually.

Therefore the next NIB meeting will take place 2011 in Umeå. Main organizer for the meeting is the newly founded Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS). By organizing this meeting The Nordic Node of the EMBL partnership in Sweden that exists since 2007 and has sister laboratories in Helsinki (FIMM) and Oslo (NCMM) underlines its role as a national centre for infection and molecular medicine in Sweden.
