Eric K. Fernström's Prize to Emmanuelle Charpentier

Emmanuelle_Charpentier_web2The prize committee at the Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University, decided to award Emmanuelle Charpentier with Umeå University's Eric K Fernström prize 2011 for young and promising scientists. The prize amount is 100.000 Swedish Krona and Emmanuelle will receive the prize at a ceremony to be held at Lund University on November 2nd, 2011.
According to the founder of the prize, the shipowner Eric K.Fernström, the Fernström foundation awards every year six young researchers at Sweden's six university medical faculties .

Emmanuelle Charpentier took the Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Emmanuelle has been awarded jointly with Jennifer Doudna the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering the groundbreaking CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology. She is a former group leader at MIMS, honorary doctor at Umeå University and former visiting professor at UCMR.
